1. THE SERPENT’S SEED — 1958-09-28

  • ¶157b–¶163 And the devil comes down, now, he says, “I can inspire.” Now, when you go to looking at women and the action of women, you remember, you are anointed of the devil (and it’s not your own wife). Notice, now, the devil come down and got into the serpent. And he found Eve in the garden of Eden, naked, and he talked about the fruit in the midst. The midst means “middle,” and so forth; you understand, in a mixed congregation. And he said, “Now, it’s pleasant. It’s good to the eyes.” What did he do? He begin making love to Eve, and he lived with her, as a husband. And she saw it was pleasant, so she went and told her husband, but she was already pregnant, by Satan. And she brought forth her first son, whose name was Cain, the son of Satan. “Now,” you say, “that’s wrong.” All right, we’ll just find out whether it’s wrong or not. “And I will put enmity between thy Seed and the serpent’s seed.” What? The serpent seed! She had a Seed, and he had a seed. “And He shall bruise thy head, and you shall bruise His heel.” And a bruise, there, means “to make an Atonement.” Now there is your “seed” of the serpent. Now, notice, here comes these two men out. Now, this serpent, when he stood there, this great big giant of a fellow stood up there, he was guilty of committing adultery with Adam’s wife. Where’s sin lay today? What makes things the way they are today? Now, I—I…Surely you can catch what I’m talking about. And there it was. And when he did, God said, begin to call for Eve and Adam. And he said, “I was naked.” And He said, “Who told you you was naked?”

  • ¶164–¶171 Then they begin to, the army fashion, passing the buck. Said, “Well, the woman You give me, done it. She was the one who persuaded me.” And she said, “The serpent give me an apple”? All right, preacher, get next to yourself. She said, “The serpent beguiled me.” Do you know what beguile means? Means “defiled.” The…she…the s-…devil never give her an apple. “The serpent has beguiled me.” And then the curse came. He said, “Because you listened to the serpent in the stead of your husband, you took Life from the world. And you’ll—you’ll multiply your sorrows; and your conception shall be to your husband,” and so forth. “And because you listened to your wife, instead of Me (I’ve took you from the dust; the highest specie), back to the dust you go.” “And, serpent, because you did that, off goes your leg. Upon your belly you’ll go, all the days of your life. And you’ll be hated. And dust shall be your meat.” There you are. There is that missing link. Now here comes Cain. Let’s watch the natures. Here comes Cain. What is he? He’s a shrewd businessman. He tills the fields. Smart, intelligent; religious, very religious; watch his—watch his attributes now. Just move with me just for a few minutes longer. Here he comes up. He knows he’s moral. He wants to go to church. He builds him a church, makes him an offering. Brings an altar, and all. Built an altar, put his flowers on it. Put the field…the fruits of the field, offered it to God. Said, “There You are, Lord. I know we eat apples, that’s what caused it.” Some of his offsets has got the same kind of an idea. Shows where it come from. Brought his apples in, out of the field, laid them on there, said, “This will make an atonement.” God said, “It wasn’t apples.”

  • ¶179–¶183 Only way he could do. There’s no more females could come, but only through Eve. They claim they had seventy sons and daughters. If—if there was no female…The Bible don’t record females when they’re born, just men. And when, if there was no more females than Eve, when she died, the human race ceased to exist. She had to have daughters. And he had to marry his own sister. He went to the land of Nods and got—and got his wife. And when he married her in there, there is where they found those great big giants, which were fallen sons of God; who came through their daddy, the devil, through Cain. There is your missing link. And watch the seed of the serpent. Now watch. Remember, the seed of the serpent is religious. Watch it start moving now, for a few minutes. Here it goes, the seed of the serpent. What happened to them? Now let me just read something here, I just wrote down this afternoon. What come through the line of Abel? Listen to this. All right. Along came Abel. After Abel come Seth. After Seth come Noah. After Noah come Shem. After Shem come Abraham. After Abraham come Isaac. After Isaac come Jacob. After Jacob come Judah. After Judah come David. After David come Christ, to the perfection. Watch back there how the Spirit of God lived in Abel. Look how It lived in Seth. Look how It lived in Judah. Look how It lived in David. Look at the same Spirit calling out, through that righteous seed, all the way down. No matter what they done, they were predestinated.

  • ¶191–¶196 Oh, I forget just what you call that now. Theophany, is what it is. Just in like…Not a myth; but yet it’s just something made manifest. Like He come to Abraham in the tent up there, like an angel, and prophesied, and told Sarah she laughed, behind Him, and so forth. The thing, same thing. And here He was. He met Melchisedec. And grand-…great- grandfather Abraham, in the seed of the righteous, paid tithes to Melchisedec; and it was allotted to his great great-grandson down here, the seed of the righteous. Now here comes the seed of the—of the serpent. Now, remember, there will be enmity, war between them. The seed of the serpent comes along, and what does it produce? Now let’s take the first few years. Now watch what takes place there. We’ll read it right down, ’cause I’ve just checked it up. The seed of the serpent produced Cain. Cain went to the land of Nod, produced giants, and then they come to the land of Noah. They were smart, educated, intelligent people. Is that right? They were builders, inventors, scientists; not through the seed of the righteous, but through the seed of Satan, the serpent. They were such men as—as scientists, and builders, and great men, educators. The Scripture says so. They worked brass. They worked iron. They worked metals. They invented things. They tempered different metals, and built houses, and so forth. Scripture says so. And they were scoffers at the seed of the woman, Noah, the righteous. Is that right? Let’s follow them a little farther. Then, we get them up to the ark, everything was destroyed. Got in such a conglomeration of sin, and they took the rule, and smartest and intelligent. Till, God looked down, there wasn’t very many left, so He just took Noah and his family in the ark, and rained the water down and destroyed the whole thing. Took Enoch up, beforehand. That right? There was all the seed, almost all the seed; but He has purpose has to be fulfilled.

  • ¶251–¶255 And her husband looked at me, said, “Brother Branham, say a prayer, ’cause she wanted to see you.” I said, “A prayer for her now would do no good.” “The way the tree leans, that’s the way it falls.” See? “Be not deceived; God is not mocked. Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he reap.” Do you see where it is? Now what’s happened? Look at a woman would do that. Look at women who lived back yonder, the chorus girl, what was her daughter? A flapper. What’s the flapper’s daughter? A rock-and-roll teenage. What’s her daughter going to be? Hum! What is it? See the seed of the righteous? Look at you Baptists. Go back a little while ago. Go back to John Smith, your founder, you Baptists. When, he prayed for the iniquity of the people, until, he cried and prayed for the people until his eyes swoll’ shut, and his wife would have to feed him at the table, his breakfast. And you Methodists, around here, with jewels in your nose and over your ears, and look like sidesaddles for the devil; and going out, wearing shorts, and things like that! When, old John Smith, one of the elders of the Methodist church, before he died at eighty-five years old, preached a short sermon four year, or, four hours. They had to pack him and set him in the pulpit. And here was his last words. He said, “I am so shocked at the action of the Methodist church.” Said, “Even the daughters of the Methodist church are wearing gold rings upon their fingers.” What would he say now, with shorts on, singing in the choir?

  • ¶270–¶275 I want you to show me one Scripture where it ever said a apple started the thing to going now. I want you to show me that they eat apples. I’ve showed you that where Cain thought the same thing, and where his seed still thinks the same thing. But the spiritual revelation of God proves, by the Bible, that it was sexual intercourse between man and woman, illegally. There is where your giants come from. That’s where your sin come from. That’s where your corruption come from. That’s where it’s come down. Now notice in all this—this, look, the—the serpent was twice as smart. His seed has always been twice as smart. And I’d like to climb up on this pulpit and grab this microphone in my hand, and stick my feet over the pulpit, and say this. And, today, where is your great intellectuals? Your pastor that’s gone down and got a lot of intellectual knowledge, and he stands up; he’s the pastor of the biggest churches there is in the country, and so forth like that. Where does the seed of the serpent stand? In the smart intelligent places like that; smart, shrewd scholars. There is where he is at. That’s where he lays. “Not by power, not by might, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord.” See? There’s where you… Then you take a little brother standing down on the corner, crying his eyes out, and maybe standing down there beating an old guitar, saying, “Brother, come, find the Lord!” Pastor walk by, say, “Huh! Wouldn’t have my congregation… Why, I wouldn’t associate, wouldn’t let my…wouldn’t let Liddy and Johnny and them see me around such a place as that.” Go on, seed of the devil, you’re headed for your Eternal destination, anyhow. That’s right. I could have said another word there, and said “bastard children,” and that’s just about where it’s at. For, you see, you…

  • ¶314–¶319 And, so, then there was another minister here this morning, or last night, Brother Smith, from the Methodist church…or from the Church of God, over here. I don’t know whether he’s here tonight, or not. If you ever stand up in this pulpit and look back that way, it’s kind of hard to tell; it’s flat, you see, and you can’t tell. If you’re here, Brother Smith, we appreciate you. And isn’t this, sitting right here, this little brother from Georgia, right back here sitting by Brother Collins? [Brother Neville says, “Yes.”—Ed.] Glad to see you up here again tonight, brother. And the rest of you, all of you, each one knows who you are. I believe this is the sister and brother here who went and prayed for the girl that time, right here, a doctor sitting over here on the side. The Lord bless you, doctor. Now, please don’t feel offended at me, you ministers and brethren, because the way I strictly drive this in just as hard as I can. This is our tabernacle. It’s what we stand for, and we want to lay It right on that Word, and shake them with It. Then, if you ever get out of line, we’re going to come back and say, “You knowed better. Here It is on the tape.” See? There you are. “Here It is on tape.” We got a whole lot more that ought to go on there, Leo. But, but we…You got that much. You stay right with That, and we’ll get the rest of It after a while. Like the man was, eating watermelon, said, “That was really good, but there’s some more of it.” So we got a lot more of It, yet, coming.

  • ¶312–¶314a Now, to the serpent’s seed. I can’t find it in here, ’cause, you see, it’s just a great pile of them. But the person said, “If the serpent—if the serpent’s seed…” See, the woman. “She—she got a son from the Lord, she said so.” Well, I believe last Sunday, I explained how she got it from the Lord. If she got it at all, she got it from the Lord, see, because had to come from the Lord, because God’s law has, it’ll—it’ll obey God, exactly. He ordained that the sun should shine, and the sun shines. He ordains that the rain shall fall upon the just and the unjust; it does it. And seeds planted in any field, whether they’re good or bad, will come up; it’s a seed. And if a seed’s planted, regardless… And the only way this serpent could plant the seed, he was the only animal next to the human being. For in the evolution of mankind, when man…God brooded upon the earth…And He begin to bring up birds, and the…from birds He come to different things, then chimpanzee, and from the chimpanzee to the serpent. Now, He changed that serpent in such a way (that had to be done) that would confuse this generation, who’s trying to find a bone that looks like some kind of an animal that was part man and part animal, to say there’s where man…They’ve lost it from the chimpanzee; only the chimpanzee doesn’t have an intelligence. The chimpanzee has not a soul; he cannot think. He just has…He—he can…Just a—a noise, and he can…A horse, “gee,” “haw,” or something like that. A dog, “Come here, Fido, do a trick. Jump over!” And setting blocks and things like that, they do that by emotion, by hearing, and things like that, an action; but to think and to understand, they can’t. They don’t know they’re naked, they don’t know the male and female, the difference, like that. They have no laws of such…?…See? They can’t do it. The human being is the only one. And the next one to the human being was the serpent. The Bible said he was the most subtle of all the beast of the field. Smarter, he— he—he’d almost had a soul.

  • ¶314b–¶318 He had a place for a soul, but what did he do? He sold out to Satan to deceive God, try to. How many gets it now that far? Satan, the serpent, almost had a soul. God knowed they’d look for those bones, and there’s not a bone in a snake that looks like the man. He was…That’s the curse of him. He stood upon his feet just like a man. Notice, then that seed, which was next to the human seed…Satan himself, the spirit, knew that that was the only seed that would pregnate the woman, ’cause the chimpanzee won’t do it. They’ve mixed it and everything else; it won’t do it. But he knowed that the germ of life that was in the chimpanzee would not come to the field of the woman egg; but he knowed the serpent’s seed would do it, so he dealt with the serpent. And Adam had never knew that this act could be done. See? She was made a female. Certainly, she would’ve come to it later; but you see, the sovereignty of God to display Himself as Saviour and—and so forth, as I’ve explained many times. But Satan knew this, for he come to her in the form of this serpent, which was the beast; and a—a beast, and came to her. And she was pregnated by Satan first. And if you’ll notice, there was only two acts done, and there was three children born. Search the Scripture. She gave birth to twins. One of them was serpent’s seed; the other one was Abel. She enticed her husband and told…See? Then she showed her husband what it was, and then he lived with her also, and she bore this child. And I want you…to show she was pregnated with twins by two different…She was a…That’s virgin woman.

  • ¶329b–¶333a Cain, the serpent’s seed, slew his first son which was a type and shadow of the serpent also slaying his other son, Jesus. And Seth took his place in the genealogies, which meant the resurrection, that the genealogies of God would completely be carried on. I want to see somebody put him in there now and say it wasn’t the serpent’s seed. It wasn’t recognized in the genealogies of God’s, or neither the genealogies of the human race, the genealogies of Adam, any of the rest of them. Is that right? How many believes it, say, “Amen.” [Congregation says, “Amen.”—Ed.] Sure. He was not; he was the serpent’s seed and not Adam’s seed! She said that was Adam’s son. It was not Adam’s son. She said, “I got it from God.” And she had to, it was a seed. It was a seed, but it was serpent’s seed. See? And He’d had to come back a virgin then in order to clear up that sexual act that’d been done. Adam was put here on earth, but he’d— he’d never found out that he was to be a father. You understand what I mean. Satan knowing this, he got to Eve before Adam got there. And there’s where the whole thing lays today. And brother, that’s what makes marriage and divorce and everything else such a scrumble as it is today. It’s most pathetic. See? But I…God has made a way, to which we are thankful. Do you love Him? Isn’t He wonderful? Now, is the serpent’s seed right? I thought maybe somebody on the tape would…might think I was afraid to attack it. You see? So they’d say, “Why, he bypassed it twice. He’s just afraid take ahold of it.” We’re not of that. As long as the Lord’s in it, that’s all right. You know what? As I said, that eagle that time I watched, feeling his wings, you know. I thought, “Aren’t you afraid of me?” I had my gun setting out there; I said, “I could shoot you.” He knowed I couldn’t shoot him; I was too far from that gun. I said, “Are you afraid?” He just walled his big eyes and looked at me.

  • ¶129–¶132 Yes, sir. That’s exactly right. All right. Now if there’s any…Now if I’m… If I didn’t answer, to suit you, why, maybe I’m…I could be wrong, see. But, this, it’s the best of my knowledge, you see. This is the best of my knowledge. 181. Brother Branham, as you have travailed or tra-…on the serpent’s seed…(Uh-oh, I never noticed this one. This one slipped up on me.)…serpent’s seed this week, will it be in order to ask this question? My friends have asked me to explain Genesis 4:1, and I can’t. Will you help me? It’s—it’s off of the subject. But, anyhow, I’ll—I’ll—I’ll try my best, by the help of God. Let’s see now. Let me polish up, for just a little bit. I think that’s where she said, “I got a son from the Lord.” I—I believe it is. I think Eve said that there. I’m going to check, be sure. Cause, I said, the other night, seven…instead of…seven hundred instead of seven thousand. So it makes me so nervous, see, and you just have to be watching. And the enemy on every side, and you—you’re conscious of that, you see. Yes, that’s it. And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have begotten a man from the Lord{: .smcaps}. Now, I’m just going to answer you a question, my brother, or sister. And now, remember, not—not throwing to you, no. I’m trying to help you, see. I love you, and I love the person who might have been a critic on it. But I don’t think this person is critical. They said, “Help me,” see, because the people believes it, but they’re just not sufficiently posted, by the Spirit, to know what to say to the person that’s asked them that.

  • ¶143–¶146 So, yeah, don’t worry. They haven’t got one foot to stand on. See? They don’t believe that be Cain’s son. But we have got a tape on that, if you’d like to hear it explained in detail. See? No, sir. And I seen they got a piece in the paper up there, where science is now going to prove that Eve never eat a apple, she had an apricot. See? I got the paper up there at home now, see. “It was an apricot.” How— how far can people…That’s a carnal mind, see. “Then, actually, Moses never crossed the water, he crossed through a sea of reeds, brought Israel across at the upper end of the Dead Sea. There was a bunch of reeds there, a whole sea of reeds, just where the waters had been one time, went down, and Moses took a shortcut and went around that way.” And the Orthodox churches accepted it. You seen that. The Orthodox churches accepted it, that that was so. Oh, man, can’t you see that seed of the serpent, that antichrist, and the whole thing laying right there? Sure. Yes, sir. Brother Branham, please pray for my little…(Well, that’s a prayer request; I see it.) Pray for my little grandson, very ill with the flu. He is in the Riverview Hotel. Lord Jesus, this poor person here never wrote that just in vain. She seen You just deliberately remove even rheumatic fever from a little boy the other night. She knows that You’re the great God, and we offer our prayers for that little boy. In the Name of Jesus Christ, may he be healed. Amen.

  • ¶159–¶162 “I’ll give you a Seed.” To the serpent, the serpent had already defiled her. He said, “But thy Seed, that I’ll give you, shall bruise his head.” He’ll take that thing back again. Amen. I wish…I just wish everybody could see that. See? “I’ve come to conquer, and correct what Eve done. And only way I can do it is through a woman that believed the Seed; where, a woman didn’t believe the Seed.” A woman believed the Word; where, one didn’t believe It. “I’m that Overcomer. I’m the One that’s come to give Life, that through My death, to pay the penalty of what she done. Through My Life, will be given to you, to flow over you. And you’ll be sons of God, and daughters of God, see, as long as the Seed is in there.” You hybreed It, and you ain’t got nothing but a denominational, bastard child. That’s all. Anything deny the Word. Excuse me, sisters. I—I want you…I’ve just got to say just the way It says it Here. See? And that’s—that’s the way It is. All of God’s sons must be the same. Yes, sir. To be born of the Word and Spirit, brings us back to the spoken Word again, like in John 3. See? To be born of the Water and the Spirit, what does It do? Then It brings you right back again unto the place of where you should have been at the beginning. See? That’s the reason of Christ’s death, brings us right back again to where? Sons of God.

  • ¶273–¶280 You say, “Brother Branham, yours is deadest of all of them.” That, that’s true. That is right. Billy Graham is more heard of than I am, and Billy is more heard of than Oral. Oral is more heard of, in one day, than I am in six months. Tommy Osborn, Tommy Hicks, any of those godly men, they’re more heard of. So, as far as that turn, mine is farther away than all of them. What’s happened? “Brother Branham, you saying that, that you telling us here now that you actually believe the Word and everything, well, what’s happened to you then? What taken place?” That’s what we want to know. That’s what we want to know. Now, put her down in your mind now. Pull down the umbrella and shake the rain off, and open up your heart just a minute and listen. Remember, the Bible said in Genesis, the 1st chapter we read, to base our thought for the day, is, “Every seed after its kind.” It’ll have to bring forth after its kind. That’s right. Every seed will have to bring. Remember, the earth is full of seeds, and the rain makes it bring forth after its kind. I believe it is near the harvest time. Don’t you believe it? [Congregation says, “Amen.”—Ed.] You all agree with that. [“Amen.”] We are near the harvest time. Now, the seeds has been planted. That’s what’s the matter with it. The seeds has been planted. Oh! O God! I wish you could see what passed before me then. The seeds has been planted. Remember, there’s a planting time, then a harvest time. They know they said so. All right.

  • ¶340–¶345 And that’s the devil that tries to whitewash That, like he did with mother Eve. It’s every Word the Truth, just the way God has got It wrote there. That’s the way I believe It. Now, you can go ahead. If you say, “Well, we got the Truth,” well, you go ahead then. That’s all right. If you’re that blind, you go right ahead, staggering in darkness. This is the Word is going to judge you, brother, not your creed. Oh, it looks good. Yes, sir, looks good. And you say, “Well, Brother Branham, wait a minute. Bless God, I seen them go out there and heal the sick.” Oh, sure, so have I. “Oh, I seen them speak in tongues.” Yes, sir, so have I. I’ve never believed, and there’s no one can prove it by God’s Word, that the initial evidence of the Holy Ghost is speaking in tongues. I want the man to come do it. I’ve challenged that all along. I believe in speaking in tongues. Yes, sir. But I’ve seen devils speak in tongues. Witches and wizards speak in tongues, and interpret it, denying there was such a thing as Jesus Christ. I’ve seen men speak in tongues, living with another man’s wife; stand, look me right in the face, a vision before You say, “Well, Brother Branham, don’t you believe the Holy Ghost speaks in tongue?” Yes, sir. But give it the Word test. See? Jannes and Jambres worked miracles. That’s right. Didn’t he? Yes, sir. Jannes and Jambres, when Moses went down to Egypt, everything that Moses done in the way of a sign, Jannes and Jambres, them two witches, could produce the same thing. Two devils! Moses would say, “Fleas!” They said, “Fleas!” Moses said, “A stick on the ground!” They said, “A stick on the ground!” “A serpent!” “A serpent!” That’s right. They could work miracles.

  • ¶286–¶289 Now I’m going to say this to you. I am very careful what I say to you. I don’t mean to be rough with you people. I don’t mean to be rough with you, my pastor brothers. I don’t mean that. But I am responsible, realizing that this has been given into my hands, and if…I can’t hold It, and I don’t know how to give It out, and I know that this tape will… Oh, my, I’ll just get ready, the office open up, ’cause here it comes. See? Just like it was on The Serpent’s Seed, but it’s absolutely proven to be right. I got papers right here, out of the paper, where women right now…and even in—in the great…Some of the great dioceses has got the pictures of the original, a snake crawling on a woman’s leg, and just in how it goes around her; she has all kinds of sensations and things, something a man could never touch her with, with this huge snake wrapping around her, and so forth. That’s exactly the truth. And it’s going worse and worse, and will get worse. Serpent, which he was not…he could not have had the sex affair with her when he was a serpent, but remember… I was having a debate the other day with a…not a debate, just an Assembly of God minister and associate, said, “You’re wrong, on That.” I said, “Well, I may be. I’d like for you to tell me.” He said then, he went ahead and begin to talk about it. First thing you know, he got hisself lost. And one thing he said, he said, “Brother Branham, where is that specie? God said ‘one of his kind.’ Now where is that specie you said was between man and beast, that science can’t find now? Where is he at?” Said, “Is he on the earth? Was he a chimpanzee?”

  • ¶290–¶297 “No, because a chimpanzee’s blood won’t mix with a woman, no other animal will mix with her. No, it won’t, nor neither will a man’s sperm mix with the—with the female. It won’t do it.” “Then where is that certain animal? Now, God said, ‘Let everything bring forth of its kind.’” I waited just a minute. And the sweetness of the Holy Spirit said, “Tell him, ‘It’s here.’” Now, at first I said, “Well, it may have become extinct.” He said, “But, Brother Branham, that, we are talking about the Word, aren’t we?” I said, “Yes, sir.” And I said, “They, course, claim that the other things, like dinosaurs and—and mammoth, and so forth, mammals, or mammoths, rather, they are extinct, and so forth.” I said, “It could have been that.” He said, “Brother Branham, we are talking about proof of the Word. If sin is here, then, the original sin, it ought to be here also.” And I said, “Lord Jesus, You said, ‘Take no thought what you shall say when you come before man, because it’ll be given to you in that hour.’ Lord, what shall I say?” He said, “Tell him, ‘It’s here.’” Just the same, I see the visions on the platform. I said, “It’s here,” not knowing where. He said, “Where?” And before I could even think, He said, “It’s the serpent.” That’s exactly what it was, for he is no longer a beast. He was cursed and put on his belly for the rest of his days. He is here. Is that right? And still in that act that he done, there is still the same sin works around a woman, like a male sex like that. There is where she has her walleyed conditions and things, when she has her sensations far beyond what any man could ever do.

It’s the Holy Spirit; the Lord of Heaven; the Logos; the Jesus Christ; the Alpha, the Omega; He that was, which is, and shall come; the Root and Offspring of David; the Morning Star; the I AM; the Father, the Son, the Holy Ghost; the Counsellor; Prince of Peace; Mighty God; Everlasting Father; the Wonderful. That’s Him. You couldn’t find enough titles to tell Him…His Name. I’ll hurry on this, this is that big one. 89. Brother Branham: Would you please explain your theory that Eve conceived Cain of the devil? I never said that; I said Eve conceived Cain of the serpent. In Genesis 4:1’s, 1st verse, clearly states that, “Adam knew his wife Eve; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, ‘I have gotten a man from God.’” Absolutely! All life has to come from God. John Dillinger come from God. Adolf Hitler come from God. Every…George—George Whitefield come from God, and so did Bob Ingersol. Every person come from God. • ¶174–¶177 Today science is looking for a bone of some animal that connects man and monkey together. The closest they got is a chimpanzee. They can’t find a bone. They’ll never, because it’s a serpent. It’s a revelation of God. Watch! The serpent was a—like a prehistoric man, something next to God—or next to man. And that’s the only thing. If any other animal would’ve happened to—Satan would’ve got on them, the seed would not have mixed with the woman. You can’t mix a human seed with any kind of an animal seed. It won’t work. But this animal that will mix the seed is complete—it’s extinct. God turned him to a snake. But remember when… Said, “Why did you hide? Why did you cover yourself with fig leaves?” Then they begin to pass the buck as the army is. “Well,” Adam said, “the woman that You give me enticed me to take of the fruit.” And the woman said, “The serpent beguiled me.” Now, what does beguile mean? “She—he beguiled me.” And God said, “I’ll put enmity between your seed and the serpent’s seed.” Seed! The serpent had a literal seed, and it come through Cain. Through Cain come all the smart, educated people down to the antediluvian flood. And behind that come Abel who was killed, and Seth was raised up in his place to represent the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. And from him come the humble people, sheepherders and so forth, but the God-fearing people. And Jesus said the children of this world are wiser, smarter, than the children of the Kingdom. That’s right!

If I don’t, or when I have to come back from over there, if the Lord Jesus tarries. I was listening yesterday when I was taking, believe it was day before yesterday, of a tape. I thought I heard it playing out here this morning. Some little Southern brother had…His mother had come into the meeting. She had a malignancy on her breast, and she was shadowed to death. And the Holy Spirit, in one of the recent meetings, at the Southern Pines, I believe it was, or somewhere, told her, said about her malignancy, and who she was, and where she come from. And said she had a boy that was a backslider, and he was going to have an accident, and be for manslaughter. And a whole lot of things like that. And this fellow… It all happened just the way. And her malignant cancer, or malignant growth, rather, left her. Which is, malignant growth is a cancer, you know. So then it—it left her. And the boy was up for manslaughter, and everything just the way the Holy Spirit said it. And he was led to Christ, back again. And he made a tape of it, and I—I heard it playing. Did you enjoy that little, old Southern talk? [Congregation says, “Amen.”—Ed.] Said, “Down here in North Carolin’er,” he said. Oh, I just love that, them old Southern people. And he had…The Lord just blessed him on. He said, “I know you say you don’t preach doctrine, Brother Branham; only to your congregation.” Said, “We’re part of your congregation.” So that was right cute in him, to say that.

  • ¶298–¶302 Directly, I noticed the people begin to get like they was physically hungry. And so they had enough spiritual, so they started walking away. And some of them [Brother Branham yawns—Ed.] started walking away. I thought, “What’s the matter with everybody?” And—and I looked, and here some young couples going along, to my side. I thought…I said, “Just a minute, friend! Just a minute! You’ll be back again when the evening shadows fall.” See? I said, “You’ll be back again. But let me give you this first climax. Where does all these things come from, that I’ve showed you? Where are they from?” I said, “Here they are. They are in the Word of God. They are THUS SAITH THE LORD, His promise. Cause,” I said, “all of you bear me record, witness this, that my commission is, ‘Stay with the Word.’” I said, “What’s the matter with all of you? Can’t you understand the Word? You must understand It.” And some of them said, “Man, I’d like to have some biscuits,” and so like that. Well, I just thought, “Well, glory to God! If they want biscuits, let them go get them.” So I—I turned around. I thought, “Oh, but, you know what? The shadows is going to fall, after while, right away.” I said, “Then, tonight, when that congregation gathers in again, I’ll put the climax to them, and told them that the things that they have seen me do is found in the Word of God, not in some mythical book or some organization. It’s found in the Word. See? Every bit of it, in the Word, ’cause I’m commissioned to That.”

She pulled the Veil from off her eyes, the holy thing that God had put over her eyes. She wanted knowledge, to know what it was all about; so she pulled the Veil off to see what it was all about. She listened to the devil, and notice what a place it put her in. They have done the same in each age thereafter, always taking the intellectual side; and has now built a kingdom of Satan, knowledge, his seed that he sowed, and has took the world to be an Eden of death. Now notice. Now look at Revelation 3, the Laodicean Church Age. You think it in your mind. Now notice. She, Eve, is Satan’s queen. See, Satan, the serpent, got to Eve before Adam got to her. See? That’s right. So he beguiled her, see; so Satan, the serpent, was the husband of Eve before Adam ever knew. See, he beguiled her. The Bible said he did, and she knowed she was naked, then. See? Now look at the—the Laodicean Church Age. She, Eve, is sitting as Satan’s queen. “She is rich in worldly goods; blind, naked again, and don’t know it,” just like it was in God’s Eden. But now, not because the Holy Veil is over her face, but the lust veil. That, she took off God’s Holy Veil, and put on a veil of knowledge, for lust. And now she has a lust veil, that she is “blind” to it being sin. She is “naked” on the street, “and don’t know it.” She’s a prostitute on the street. Women with these shorts on, in God’s sight, is a prostitute, “and don’t know it.”

You know, Eve was the mother of hybreeding. She misbred the human race, you know, after she had did this evil thing. And I know this is on tape, so we’ll make it baby-form for them, if they want to. But when she had this affair with the serpent; which was not a serpent, or a reptile. They’re as ignorant as they can come. The serpent was a man. The blood of an animal won’t mix with the blood of a human. No, sir. But this specie was so close, between there, till he did mix, and Satan knew that. Great giant of a fellow! Isn’t it strange that they found great giants in the land after this? I wish Josephus, the writer, would have thought of that. Where’d those giants come from? The seed of the serpent. The Bible said that he would—he would cause the seed of the serpent…“The seed of the serpent,” the serpent had a seed, “and the seed of the woman.” But we better leave them alone. They don’t believe it, so we just take them on their baby form. But when she did that, she polluted the whole thing.

The seed of the serpent. What has it done in this last days, by denomination? Produced the seed of the serpent, again, rejecting the Word. What did he offer? Fruits and things, not the Blood. By revelation of the Word, God’s Word before It was even written, “Abel by faith offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than that of Cain, which testified that he was righteous,” the Word reflecting Itself through him, by his offering. Oh, Cain went and got fruits of the field, he thought that Eve eat an apple. Most the theological seminaries has changed that now to an apricot. It was an adultery. And anybody knows that, that knows the Bible. Sure, it was. Notice, the serpent’s seed was produced by the first Eve’s getting away from the Word. The second Eve done the same thing at Nicaea, Rome. And what has she got? A bunch of denominational children. That’s right. Oh, morally good; sure, fine. But what about it? Dead, through their creeds. Same now. Cain’s revelation of the Word done the same thing that these has. What? Promised her. At the end of time, what promises this Eve now? Listen close now, I’m closing. What promise to this Eve at the end time? Riches, Laodicea, great name, great person, rich. “But dead, and naked, and don’t know it.” That’s what the church age ended in.

You know, I—I really believe that a lot of these…If there’s some doctors here tonight, we ought to look in Doctor Moses’ medicine cabinet and find out just exactly what kind of a remedy he had. Don’t you think that? He kept two million people on the go, and there wasn’t a feeble one among them when they come out of it, forty years long. Say, doctor, you ought to look in his medicine kit and find out what he had. Let’s do it. Would you like to look into it? [Congregation says, “Amen.”—Ed.] All right, we’ll just look over and see what Moses had. Here it is. Moses opens up his medicine kit, “I’m the Lord that healeth thee.” That’s all he had. Amen. That’s all he needed. “I’m the Lord that healeth all of thy diseases.” That’s all the medicine he needed, and he practiced that too. So when they had a place that…Moses couldn’t pray for all of them. So then, God told him to go and erect a brass serpent, put it on a pole. We skipped over that last night, just said they had the brass serpent. Let’s take a symbol of that. The first thing, the brass serpent represented Jesus Himself, ’cause the serpent represented sin already judged from the garden of Eden. And Jesus was made sin for us, knowing no sin. The brass that the serpent was made out of represented Divine judgment. Brass is Divine judgment. If you notice the brazen altar, the judgment where the sacrifice was burnt. And Elijah, in the days when Israel had got away from God, and there were going to be a great Divine judgment upon…He said the skies looked like brass, Divine judgment. And the pole, of course, was the cross. And the brass serpent couldn’t pray for anyone.

After the first sin had been committed from Adam and Eve…We realize that the world was perfect, and then Satan got into the serpent (not a reptile, a beast) and deceived mother Eve. That set in sin, and out of Genesis, begin to spread forth. Let’s take at least two spirits out of Genesis, and run the church down, and find it out where we’re living today. The reason I’ve chose this little thought this afternoon, when God dealt with me yesterday about it, knowing I was to speak, was because of the—of the prestige of the Full Gospel churches, and how easy… Jesus said, Himself, “That in the last days, the two spirits would be so close together, it would deceive the very Elect, if possible. But by their fruit you shall know them.” Now, after Adam and Eve, they brought forth their first son, which was Cain, of the devil. The second son was Abel. You say, “Brother Branham, do you mean to say that Cain was of the devil?” Sure he was, son of the devil. Notice! Say, “Well, Eve said, ‘I have got a son from the Lord.’” That’s true. Certainly. God is the only Creator. But through the spirit that he let come upon him; you couldn’t attach that evil thing of Cain, upon God. Where did he get that nature he had to be jealous? From Satan, his father. Where did he get that spirit of murder, the first murderer? You couldn’t say that come out of God, it had to come out of the devil, he was of the devil. And Abel was of God, out of Adam.

It’s the old bloody sheepskins beating against Adam’s big manly legs as he went walking out of the Presence of God. God couldn’t stand it. All that great eternity there, come down to four letters, l-o-v-e. God so loved, He couldn’t see His children go out in that kind of a condition, separating from Him. He stopped and said, “Wait a minute. I’ll put enmity between your seed and the serpent’s seed,” promising a Saviour. Let’s turn our camera now four thousand years later. There’s a great carrying on in Jerusalem. We’re setting in a building saying, and we say, “What is all that noise about? Where did it come from?” Look out, somebody say, “Well, there’s a holy-roller out there. They’re going to crucify Him this morning. He’s done nothing but just tear up the churches around here and everything. So they’re going to crucify Him.” Let’s go at the window and look out. There comes the Man down the street over them cobblestones, dragging an old rugged cross. He’s got a garment on wove throughout without seams. As He starts up Golgotha yonder, I begin to look on His back, and I see little red spots all over His coat. I say, “What are those red spots?” I keep watching them. As He goes the spots gets bigger, bigger, bigger; now they all run into one great big bloody spot. I hear something going, [Brother Branham claps three times—Ed.] What is it? The second Adam, the Redeemer, going yonder to Calvary, bearing away, the Lamb of God taking the sin of the world up yonder to Calvary, the most pathetic picture was ever pictured. How could a sinner look in the face of that and remain a sinner, is more than I can tell you. Out of there come two children: one Cain and one Abel. Both of them are men. And Cain was a long ways from being an atheist. Cain was a believer.

God gave her a Seed, not by sexual intercourse, but by creation. Can’t you blind people see that’s the “seed” of the serpent? Oh, my! Satan got there before Adam; that was the “seed.” But she received a Seed. What was it? Your…I love that soul that’s in you, that’s got to meet God. That’s what I’m…my sister for Eternity, not some little sex thing here on earth will… How many ever read the decline, of the fall of Rome? Sure. Look at there, just the same thing we’re doing, sex appeal. Youth in the condition it is, just exactly the way we got now, racial problems. And youth taking over, and man and sex. Just the way the Roman Empire fell, eighteen hundred years ago, and here it is right back here again amongst Gentiles. See? The confusion amongst the religions and things. Oh, what an hour that we’re living in! [A sister gives a message. Blank spot on tape—Ed.] Amen. The Lord God has spoke. I believe that. Now let us stand. When He speaks, it’s time for us to give reverence. [Someone speaks to Brother Branham—Ed.] (What say?) By God’s grace, and by God’s help, I’m more determined than I ever was, stand by this Word and try my best, by the help of God, to cut a way down to Bethlehem again, where Bethlehem dwellers can drink from that Fountain. How many will join with me, with your hands up, say, “I promise to God I’ll do it”? God bless you.

  • ¶28–¶29 Now, closely, I want you to notice this. God shouldn’t have to have this, but He’s always had to have it, seemingly, some object that people could look to, some object like the brass serpent. Now, they should not have had that, they should’ve believed God. But for a memorial, that there’d been an atonement, or was one coming, which the brass serpent spoke…Serpent spoke of sin; brass spoke of judgment, for judgment already; the brass serpent represented the brazen altar: sin already condemned and judged. Like Elijah went up and looked, and Gehazi said, “Why, the skies are like brass,” judgment. Brass always speaks of judgment. The brazen serpent, serpent spoke of sin. It was nailed to a pole, showing that sin would be nailed to a pole, a tree, someday for a compound cause. When the brass serpent was lifted up in the wilderness, it was for forgiveness of sin and healing of the body. Is that right? Jesus said, “As Moses lifted up the brass serpent, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,” for the same cause. One was type, and the other one was antitype. And you mean to say that there were more blessings in the type than there was the antitype? Could not be. So I won’t—we won’t have to go in that ’cause you taught that with these evangelists, and pastors, and so forth, till you know it’s the truth. That the healing is in the atonement. Healing—sickness is an attribute of sin. And when Jesus killed sin, or atoned for sin, He atoned for every attribute. Everything down that was caused in the fall, Jesus atoned for it. Oh, my, that makes us feel our Methodist bones getting tickled up. Look. I don’t want to get started preaching no more. So, my. Now look.

I’d say, “Looky here. You know, last winter I camped right here one night, I built a fire right here when I was waiting for my old dog here to tree, and I had a fire here. It was froze five inches deep in the ground. But, little flower, where did you come from?” See? “Well, and where’d you come from? Who come out here and planted you? And what hothouse did they bring you out of? Or—or what about it, where’d you come from?” See? That little flower, I’d say, “Why, it was froze, and everything, and I built a fire on top here. Besides the freezing element, there was a heat element laying here on a big old log where I burned you. And yet here you are, and you’re alive. Where’d you come from?” What was it? There was another William Branham. See? A little spot of Eternal Life down there, from the—the—the genes of God, the Word of God that was placed in there. Each one of you can think of similar things. See, It was working. Then look up to the trees, and I think, “Leaf, I seen you fall off last year, and why are you back there again? Where’d you come from? What brought you here?” See, It was that Eternal Life working in the body.

These giants were the sons of Cain, whose father was the serpent, who looked in every respect exactly like a man, but was a great, huge fellow, bigger than a man. And that’s where those sons came from, because they were the sons of Cain, because they were Canaanites in the land of Canaan, where they come from; and that’s where Cain went to. And that was…See, that also proves the serpent’s seed. It was a different race of people altogether. That was serpent’s seeds. See? Now, that—that serpent’s seed question’s in here, so we’re—we’re going to get to it, and I want you to bear this in mind. See? Now, just to give this background. See, they were—they were Canaanites, these giants; and they were the sons of Cain, which was the son of the serpent. And the serpent was a giant man, great, monstrous sort of a fellow, not a reptile at all, beautiful. He was the most subtle of all the beasts of the field. And he was the only… See, the—the genes from an animal into a women will not breed at all. They tried it over and over; it’s unfertile to the woman’s sperm. And now, they can’t find it. Take a chimpanzee, it’s the closet thing they can find to the man, or the gorilla, or some of those close up to the man. As God in His great evolution begin to make fish; and then He made birds; and then He made other things, animals, and they kept coming on up, till one come out to a chimpanzee, and to a monkey, and on down to a gorilla, and then into the form of the serpent, and then from a serpent to a man.

  • ¶13–¶14 Notice, then right in that crucial moment, serpents had come in among the people and were biting them. And Moses was taught in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and they were boasting positions, far beyond in many things, than what we are today. Had our doctors skinned by hundreds of miles. But Dr. Moses had no cure for that snakebite. Nothing could be done. There they was, way in the wilderness. And Moses prayed and God came to him and told him the remedy for it. I like that. What is He? God, Jehovah-jireh, the Lord will provide, make a way. I love it. Notice, then God told Moses, in this type or symbol; said, “Go make a serpent out of brass and put it on a pole.” Now, the serpent, in a symbol, meant sin. The serpent represented the serpent from the garden of Eden already judged: snake turned from a—a animal. Now, he wasn’t a reptile. The Bible said he was the most subtle of all the beasts of the field. He wasn’t a reptile; he was a beast. And he turned to a serpent on his belly. And that snake represented sin judged. And made out of brass meant Divine judgment. Brass means Divine judgment in the Bible. See, the people were sinning because they didn’t believe the prophet. They were chiding against him and against God. They had sinned, and because of sin, serpents had bit them, and they were dying. And all sickness is caused by sin. That’s right. Before we had— before we had sin, we had no sickness. But sin—or sickness, is an attribute of sin. Sickness came because of sin: maybe not what you done; inherited it. Three or four generations it’ll follow. God said so. Notice. And so God put up this—had Moses to put up this ensign to Israel. And when he lifted it up, sickness and sin, a compound reason for both sickness and sin. Jehovah-jireh was providing an ensign that represented that their sin was forgiven and a healing for their sickness. You get it? Serpent represented sin judged.

Dwight Moody in his day… Charles Finney was a—a lawyer, an educated man, and he was God’s message to the world in his day, an educated man who got many hundreds of lawyers together. And you’ve read his biography, I’m sure, most all people who read those things, religious books. And it’s a—it’s a masterpiece. Then along came Dwight Moody, which was a very illiterate, unlearned man. His grammar was very poor, but he was God’s Message for that age. In each age God has a message. And in the days when the children of Israel were journeying through the wilderness, God had a message of a brass serpent on a pole, provided for a compound reason: for forgiveness of sin and healing of their body from a snakebite, which their medical aids would not touch. And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, which were very smart, shrewd, medical men. But his—his remedies did not help this certain snakebite. And we believe that to be true, because the Bible states it. And he lifted up a brass serpent, and the people had nothing to do but to look at that brass serpent and believe that it was God’s compound cure for their sins, for refusing God’s servant, and for complaining against him, and for the cure of the snakebite. Jesus said, “As Moses was—lifted up the brass serpent, so must the Son of man,” the same reason. And now, that serpent was God’s provided way for healing for many, many years. And after the serpent, the people got to worshipping the image, the serpent, instead of what it stood for. And that brought the people under idolatry, so the prophet went in and took the serpent and destroyed it. Later, when the people had need of Divine healing, God sent an Angel down to a pool. Now, the Scripture said that it was an Angel and was on the pool. And the first one stepping in, that had faith, got healed.

And it’s so hid by taking him down, and even not a bone in him looks like a man, see, making him a reptile. The first one that I can call when a emergency arose, was we would call it the Eden Conference. When word reached Heaven that God’s children had fallen, there were immediately something had to be done, because His Own son and His Own daughter had fallen from grace. And there was a case in the stage of emergency, if man ever existed, there had to be something done. I can imagine God our Father down in the garden of Eden looking around to find a certain tree, to where He could call His children up in His Presence under this tree. He selected a place. And He called that conference. And He stood Adam, and Eve, and the serpent, and there was a conference held. They had trespassed His laws, and His laws were just, and must, the penalty must be paid. And how are they going to live after the death sentence hangs on them? And there was a conference held, and there was a propitiation made for that sin. And temporarily, until the woman’s Seed was to bruise the serpent’s head that would pay the full penalty of sin, there was a lamb sacrificed until that time to be fulfilled. And there was something that was achieved, there was something done that was great, a way that man could be saved again. I’m so glad that they had a conference. If they would have had no conference, where would we have been tonight? There was something done, agreements was met, and bylaws was made, and they went forward. And that first conference meant the difference between life and death to the human race.

I can see there: Adam with them dark shaggy locks hanging around his head; those bright, flashy eyes look over to his little sweetheart, Eve; and such a perfect-built woman; and her hair; looked up, and her eyes, as blue as the sky. Adam loved her. Oh, how he loved her. But when sin entered in, their little home was broke up, because of an old, lustful beast. The devil had got into an animal called the serpent; not a reptile. Remember, the Bible doesn’t say that the devil was a snake. He wasn’t a snake in the beginning. The snake wasn’t like he is now, in the beginning. The curse put him where he’s at. The Bible said, “He was…” (not a reptile) “He was a beast, and the most subtle of all the beasts of the field.” He looked more like a man than anything you’ve ever had; walked upright. There’s where the devil got, in him; and come to Eve, this beautiful-made woman, and she did what was wrong. Take your idea of it, I got mine. All right. Now, then she brought forth her first son, Cain. The nature after the daddy: a murderer, a hater, so forth. Notice, then, what taken place after that. Then, when God came down to talk, fellowship had been broken. Could you imagine? Adam and Eve setting out in the garden of Eden, under them great palm trees, God would come around, say, “My children.” “Yes, Father.” “Is all well?” “All is well.” “Have you enjoyed the blessings of your Father, this day?” “Yes, Father, we’ve enjoyed.”
